Not Again

It really makes me angry,
when a friend who’s near and dear.
has another disappointment,
of something we all fear.

Why can’t cancer stay away,
after fighting it so strong.
We hoped it was gone forever,
but apparently we were wrong.

Just when life begins anew,
we think we have the answer.
Our safety is shattered once again,
and it’s back to having cancer.

Recurrence is a nasty word,
one we never want to hear.
A nightmare turned reality,
awakening the fear.

Sometimes it happens in a race,
a false start or two we’ll see.
But to keep on running hard and strong,
brings only victory.

Yes, it really makes me angry,
that another fights begun.
But all along I’ve always known,
that this one WILL be won!
