In March 2021 after a biopsy, I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. I was just leaving my job, while in parking lot I got the call from the Oncologist surgeon. I stayed in my car for 30 minutes crying. You see just a month prior February 2021; I had adopted my 5-year-old grandson after a 3-year battle with DCF. So many questions, how do I tell my sons? Who will raise my grandson? What happens next? After putting myself together, I told myself; Self, you got this! This is just another milestone that you can overcome.
June 2021 had my lumpectomy. July 2021 got a severe case of sepsis from my body rejecting 2 ports. After being put in an induced coma, I was hanging by a thread. I was fighting the biggest battle of my life! God knew my time on this earth was not done. I had a 5-yr old to raise. I did not fight to give him a chance at life for cancer to destroy all I had worked so hard for. After a long 30 days in the hospital, I was better enough to go home.
Although, I had to learn how to walk again & get therapy for a frozen shoulder from laying in a bed. August 2021 began my chemo. Every Monday for 4 hours, this went on through the end of November. November 2021, I rang that bell so hard & said I won CANCER!!! For the month of December 2021 Monday through Friday I was doing Radiation therapy.
Today, I am cancer FREE! Just wanted to share my story to perhaps help others in their journey. Stay Strong, have Courage and Hope! You can also Beat CANCER!!
