Rebecca, cancer survivor sharing story

Rebecca’s Story

It was the middle of March 2020 and I was having stomach pains and felt a hernia growing. The pains increased causing me to have very bad pains. I went to the ER and had to be alone while my brother waited outside in his car. COVID-19 has just got bad so no visitors.

I took a CT scan and was told that my appendix was enlarged and looked like it was cancer. My heart immediately dropped and I begged the doctor to let my brother in and he couldn’t. Being told you have the “C” word while your alone is not good. They admitted me in the hospital for further testing. I ended up getting a colonoscopy and was diagnosed with Appendix Cancer. I was in the hospital for 3 days alone, scared, terrified and tearful. A couple weeks later I had hernia surgery and they did a biopsy to confirm. I started chemotherapy shortly after and that’s when the fight for my life began!!!
